Little Prairie Primary School September Newsletter

Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year!

A note from Mrs. Harris

As we get into the swing of things, I ask that you please make every attempt to have your child to school on time. Attendance is critically important, and the primary grades are the perfect opportunity to establish good attendance habits early.

Additionally, please remember that beginning Monday, September 8th, we ask that for those driving your children to school, you either drop them off at the curb or say goodbye to them at the front door. This will help in fostering independence in your little ones, as well as assisting in getting our day started in a timely manner.

Please take the time to review our drop off and pick up procedures. We appreciate your assistance as we get the year started and adjust to back-to-school routines and procedures. Thanks for a great start!

Focused on growth for all students,
Lindsey Harris, Little Prairie Principal
Student Drop Off & Pick Up

Important Reminders

Morning Drop-Off (7:30-7:45)
  • If you are walking your student to the door: please park in a parking space and model safe behavior by using the crosswalk. It is very unsafe to walk through the car line!
  • If you are going through the car line: teachers are outside to help open doors and get students out. Please do not get out of your car, and please stay in line. It is unsafe to exit the line to get around the car(s) in front of you. If possible, it is easiest if your child is seated on the passenger side of the vehicle.

4K Midday Pick Up/Drop Off
  • To ensure our three 4K buses can safely navigate the parking lot, please do not park along the curb until all three buses have arrived (for pick up, after 10:45 am & for drop off, after 11:50 am)

After School Pick Up (2:58)
Car line pick up:
  • Pull forward to the crosswalk/Little Prairie sign and form a single file line.
  • Staff will open doors and help students into the car, do not get out of your car.
  • Please stay in the line - do not try to go around the cars in front of you or back up to get out of line.
  • Do not park along the curb between here and Prairie View as it interferes with the Prairie View pick up line.

Parent Pick Up:
  • Please park in a parking space, cross at the crosswalk and wait on the sidewalk behind the digital sign. A staff member will check in with you.

Smile!

If your child did not have their photo taken on August 6th, it will be taken during the school day on Friday, September 5th. No appointment is necessary.

Reading Calendars

Each month a reading calendar will come home in your child's yellow folder. We do not typically assign “homework” in elementary school, but we do encourage at least 20 minutes of reading each night because research shows that establishing a positive reading routine will give children a huge academic advantage.

Students who return their reading calendars at the end of the month will receive a prize!

An additional copy of the reading calendar can be found HERE.

A Note from Health Services:
